The SendRCS Glossary
Mastering the Language of Modern Messaging. At SendRCS, we believe in transparency. The world of CPaaS and WhatsApp Business can be full of acronyms. Use this guide to understand the technical terms behind your high-growth messaging strategy.
The Essentials
MEP (Monthly Engaged Person)
The primary unit of our platform. It represents a unique individual contacted within a calendar month. You can message one MEP multiple times, and they only count once toward your tier limit.
CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service)
The cloud-based infrastructure that allows us to deliver WhatsApp, SMS, and RCS messages globally without the need for complex hardware.
API (Application Programming Interface)
The “digital bridge” that allows SendRCS to talk to your existing software (like Shopify, Salesforce, or your custom CRM) to trigger automated messages.
WhatsApp & Rich Messaging
WABA (WhatsApp Business Account)
OBA (Official Business Account)
HSM (Highly Structured Message)
RCS (Rich Communication Services)
The evolution of SMS. It allows for “WhatsApp-like” features (buttons, carousels, and read receipts) directly in the native messaging app of Android phones.
Session
A 24-hour conversational window. In our Automate packages, a single session allows for unlimited back-and-forth between a customer and your AI bot for one fixed price.
Technical & Delivery Terms
MT (Mobile Terminated)
An outbound message sent from your business to a customer’s phone.
MO (Mobile Originated)
An inbound message sent from a customer to your business.
DLR (Delivery Receipt)
The technical confirmation that a message was successfully delivered to the recipient’s handset.
Sender ID
The branded name (e.g., “SendRCS”) that appears at the top of an SMS message instead of a random number.
Webhook
NLP (Natural Language Processing)
The AI technology we use in our Answers chatbot to help it understand and respond to human language naturally.
